Description:

The University Fish and Game Club exists to explore and promote fishing, hunting, sport shooting, trapping, and outdoor recreation while fostering responsible stewardship of the land and waters that sustain us. Rooted in conservation and respect for wildlife, we educate members in outdoor skills, sustainable resource management, and the ethics of fair chase, helping students understand not only how to harvest, but why it must be done with care and integrity. We cultivate a deep appreciation for the origins and acquisition of food and for the rugged natural beauty of Vancouver Island that surrounds us. Over the past year, we have introduced more than 150 university students to hunting, fishing, trapping, and/or sport shooting, helped numerous members obtain their PAL and RPAL as well as their hunting and trapping licences, engaged students in conservation efforts including clipping thousands of salmon, and led mentored hunts and range days that build both skill and character. Through licensing support, hands on mentorship, and active field experience, we are not only getting students certified, we are getting them confidently and responsibly involved in the outdoors.
